Podari.Life has four ongoing programs:

First program provides doctors, hospitals and researchers with a current access to Western academic and clinical research - via relevant journals and database subscriptions paid by Podari.Life. The program also provides scientists in the field of cancer research with grants to participate in international conferences and exchanges. In 2020 Podari.Life had spent $1,5957 on this program as all conferences were cancelled.

Second program covers rare and unregistered medications needed to cure children in Russian hospitals, primarily Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology. The total expense for this Podari.Life program was $212,940.

Third program covers treatment and rehabilitation outside of Russian national health system  This program cost in 2020  was $44,904, in particular for unrelated bone-marrow search, and we expect to spend more of these searches next years.

Fourth program covers the expenses for IT that help to promote cancer awareness and reach more donors and stay in touch with patients parents and families.  In 2020 we spent $13,414 on this program.

In 2021 we aspire to continue our efforts to help Russian doctors in their fight with childhood cancer. Our programs continue to support academic and clinical development of medical personnel, however now our main causes are to provide Russia hospitals with so much needed medications, that are not available through Russian healthcare system.

On this International Children's Day Podari.Life turns 5

On this International Children's Day Podari.Life turns 5

International Children’s Day is a constant annual reminder that we all must do something for kids – especially for those who suffer, who live under hard conditions or who fight an illness. For Podari.Life and our supporters, that is a call to do many great things that help Russian children and doctors to combat cancer.

Today, with restrictions and limitations of the CoVID-19 pandemic, we must usher our creativity in order to find new ways of fundraising. To give you some ideas we want to remember some great events our supporters organized recently. Events can happen offline and online but what they give to us – both emotionally and practically – is a great feeling of togetherness, of real human compassion and love.

Like Elena Lewis from California, who held already three concerts-fundraisers to benefit of Podari.Life. Her charity gatherings raised more than $7,000 USD that were used to buy critical medicines for young Russian patients.

Like Alexandra Diz, an Israeli-turned-Californian, who gave a lecture-fundraiser to fellow interior designers in Herzlia on her experience in America. Alexandra and 15 colleagues of her donated to Podari.Life proceedings of the seminar, organized under auspices of Point Salon.

Like Shanet gallery, a nonprofit organization that promotes Russian contemporary art in the US had organized an exhibition with some proceeds of sales to Podari.Life.

Together you provided help of over $1 million USD since 2015.

Each and other of these great efforts not only raised money for Podari.Life cause, and helped Russian child cancer patients to fight the illness, but also increased awareness of our mission we share with sister charities – “Podari Zhizn” in Russia and “Gift of Life” (UK).

Organize a Fundraising as a Webinar

During this period of isolation webinars have become one of the most frequently used tools for information sharing, projects development, etc. However, as reports our supporter Hermiona Education, a distance learning specialist, based on empirical studies, 73% of webinars don’t meet attendees’ expectations. They’ll offer soon a special tutorial and a short training video on how to organize a quality webinar. The tutorial will include detailed coverage of: idea building and presentation; content generation, and technology including fundraising and marketing.

Please write to us if you are interested in this form of support.

Foscavir for patients after bone marrow transplant

Foscavir for patients after bone marrow transplant

atamonov.jpg

Dmitry Artamonov is a 16-years old aspiring computer programmer from Kovrov (Vladimir region). Dmitry is fighting cancer since spring 2019, when he was diagnosed with an Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He noticed a growing bump on the back of his head, and unusual continuous fevers. As Dmitry recollects, he then only knew about cancer from movies – “When someone is told he or she has a cancer, they feel it like a death sentence”. But his cousin who is a cancer survivor herself, assured him that childhood cancer is treatable. When admitted to Dima Rogachev Center, he was relieved: chances of victory over cancer are much higher here.

Dima undergoes a complex and lengthy treatment – doctors not only want to avert his current tumors, but to prevent a return of an aggressive and dangerous illness. After bone marrow transplant, Dima Artamonov has multiple complications that need to be treated. Chemotherapy and transplant surgery drowned Dima’s immunity to viruses – for more than 3 months he cannot leave hospital rooms, cannot see natural light and breath open air. To complete the treatment and defy complications, Dmitry needs a course of Foscavir – essential anti-bacterial and anti-viral medication that cost close to 12 thousand dollars.

Podari Zhizn supporters have already raised more than $47 thousand for previous treatment, and thanks to you we are ready to pay for a course of Foscavir (around $12 thousand USD)

There are two other kids who need a this type of treatment right now, so the bill for Foscavir in February 2020 is around $30 thousand USD.

Thanks to your support we are able to pay these bills.

June Fundraising for Yegor

June Fundraising for Yegor

Many our supporters celebrated June 1st, International Children Day (and our 4th anniversary) by participating at different fundraising events.

Some events were local and one-day, like “Oh, To Be a Child Again” in Pleasanton, CA, or Charitable Field Day hosted by SpeakandPlay in Newton, MA, or a special Mozgoboyna (“Brain Breakers”) for kids in Miami, FL. We are also very grateful to all participants of First Family Day “Vmeste” in North Andover, MA who decided to support Podari.Life.

And some event, like Hermiona Education Global Open House - will go on until the end of the month.

Today, we may conclude that June 1st fundraisers already brought up over six thousand dollars.

Thanking all participants, Podari.Life meanwhile asks you for some more help.

maliar.jpg

13-years old Yegor Malyar is fighting ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) for three months now. His chemotherapy is very complex as it requires addressing side effects such as pneumonia and aspergillosis. In order to continue, doctors need to apply Fortecortin medicine (powerful steroid). Yegor needs a course of Fortecortin, and other patients may need it as well. Podari.Life needs your support to meet a goal of $12,700 USD that will buy 200 flacons of the medicine – enough for Yegor’s treatment and other patients for a whole year.

With all donations collected in June as up today, Podari.Life only can cover 1/2 of the cost of vital medication. Let's help Yegor!

If you want to combine a gift of charity with a useful advise on your child's education in the United States or abroad, consider Hermiona Education project. Qualified mentors and counselors will guide you through options and personal education plans on a path to college - for your donation to Podari.Life.
